After downloading, how to find and manage files

First confirm whether the task is truly completed in the Hams Download Center, then open the file through the completed project, check the local status, and perform management operations supported by the current version.

Estimated reading time: approximately 5 minutesLast updated: __ month __ 2026

The existence of task records does not necessarily mean that the corresponding files are still saved in the device. Files may be moved, deleted, cleaned, or placed in a Private Vault. The location where Hams saves the file is in the public "Download" directory of the device. Hams folder.

Quick conclusion

01
Tasks are still waiting or downloading

The file has not been saved yet, the current download task should be processed first (download troubleshooting guide).

02
Task shows completed

Open or view file details from a completed project.

03
Completed but cannot be found / cannot be opened

The former checks if it has been moved, deleted, cleaned or moved to a safe; the latter checks for file integrity, formatting and device compatibility.

What stages does the download task go through?

Select web resource → Create download task → Wait or prepare → Download data → Complete file saving → Appear in completed list → Open and manage local files.

Create task

Hams has recorded the user's selected resources, but the file has not yet been completed.

Download data completed

The network transfer may be complete, but local saving and file publishing may still need to be completed.

Task completed

Hams has confirmed that the necessary processes are concluded and the final document is in a manageable state.

The file still exists

The actual files are not moved or deleted by the user, the system, or other applications.

Hams does not support resuming interrupted downloads. If you continue after a pause or retry after a failure, you will download it again from 0 bytes, and the parts that have been transmitted will not be retained, so pausing in the middle will not save traffic.

There is no text status name on the task card, the current status is only represented by icons and colors. The only Chinese status words that can be seen in the app are the three tabs in the Download Center and "Downloading/Completed/Failed" in the statistics area. There are no separate text labels for waiting, transcoding, paused, and canceled.

First understand the information in the Download Center

The controls, names, and order on the page must be consistent with the official app; features that are not yet online will not appear in this guide in advance.

Three tasks Tab

The Download Center is divided into three tabs: "Downloading/Completed/Failed"; the collapsible statistics area at the top displays the numbers of these three categories, and clicking on the number can also switch to the corresponding Tab.

Waiting and suspended tasks are merged into "Downloading" and do not have a separate category. Go to "Completed" when searching for files.

Completed list filtering

There is a row of filtering chips above the "Completed" tab: All, Videos, and Images. There is also a "safe" chip, which only appears if you have unlocked the safe level and there are contents inside.

"Safe" is not a fourth file type, but an independent switch: when opened, you will see hidden files, and when closed, you will return to the normal completed list. Users who have not unlocked the safe will only see three chips.

Task thumbnail

Help identify video content, image content, video cover, and whether it is the target resource.

Thumbnails are only ancillary information and do not independently prove that the file still exists or can be opened. Files that have been moved to the safe do not display real thumbnails, only placeholders.

File or task name

The name is generated by combining the webpage title (after truncation) and the resource name, or may be the result of you renaming it later. in the title \ / : * ? " < > | Characters such as characters will be replaced with underscores, and names that are too long will be truncated.

The fact that the file name does not exactly match the title of the web page does not necessarily indicate a download error.

Task status

Task cards use icons and colors to indicate the current status, without textual status names; downloading tasks only display the speed after the transmission actually starts.

The original error code displayed on the failed task is in English (for example http_403, ioFailure, permissionDenied), not a translated description.

File information

If provided in the official version, the file size, media type, resolution, completion time, and save status can be displayed.

Fields that do not exist will not be fictitious in the official website demo.

File operations

Operations for completed tasks include: open preview, share, rename, delete, move to Private Vault. The main entrance to move in is the file card."Move to safe" in the "⋮" menu, you can also fileClick three times in a rowQuickly move in; use the same two methods to recover hidden files in the "Safe" filter.

Sharing can only share one file at a time, and there is no entry for batch sharing. Moving in, exporting copies and restoring requires unlocking the safe of the corresponding level first.

Hams Download Center interface

Follow these six steps to find downloaded files

  1. 01 · Enter

First enter the Hams Download Center

The Download Center displays waiting, ongoing, completed and abnormal tasks in a centralized manner, and is the primary entry point for finding download content.

Completion flag: The download task list in the current device has been seen.

  2. 02 · Filter

    View only completed content

Switch to the "Completed" tab in the Download Center to exclude tasks that are still being downloaded or have failed. When there are many files, use the "Video" and "Image" chips at the top of the list to continue narrowing down the range.

While the task is still "Downloading" or "Failed" Tab, the file is not yet in its final usable state. When there is no content under the current filter, the app will prompt you to switch back to "All".

  3. 03·Identification

Confirm that this is the video or image you need

    • Whether the thumbnail corresponds to the target media
    • Is the file type correct?
    • Are the names broadly related?
    • Is the file size reasonable?
    • Are there multiple similar versions?
    • Whether a cover or thumbnail was downloaded

When unable to determine, returnDownload Panel Guide, to check that the initially selected resource is correct.

  4. 04 · Open

First use the open action provided by the task

Opening files through Hams' completed tasks can reduce judgment difficulties caused by directory changes, files with the same name, or other file management applications. Possible results: Open normally, need to select an available application in the device, the file does not exist, the file format cannot be opened temporarily.

This page does not promise that Hams itself can play all media formats.

  5. 05 · Confirm

Confirm that the actual file still exists

    • File name
    • file size
    • media type
    • completion time
    • Current accessibility status
    • Current save location or opening method

When you need to check from the system, use the device's file management application to open the "Download/Download" directory. Hams Folder (if you changed the save folder name, it will be the name you set).

  6. 06 · Management

Open, organize, or delete content you no longer need

    • Open preview
    • Share (one file at a time)
    • Rename (extension cannot be modified)
    • Delete (also delete local files)
    • Clear download history (keep local files)
    • Move to Private Vault ("⋮" menu or triple click)

Completion flag: The file has been opened normally, or the expected local management operation has been completed.

File opens normally

The current file is already available.

Next step:You can continue watching offline or manage it locally.

Wrong content was downloaded

What you get is a cover, thumbnail, or other resource.

Next step:returnDownload panel, reconfirm the video, cover, thumbnail, or asset version.

The task is not really completed

The task is still waiting, failed, or the file is unavailable.

Next step:EnterGuide to background downloads and task exceptions.

Files ready to be moved into safe

It is hoped that additional protection will be added to some content.

Next step:CheckPrivacy Deposit Box Guide.

The file is saved in the "Downloads" directory of the device

Hams writes the downloaded file to a subfolder in the public "Downloads" directory of the device. The default name is Hams,Right now Download/Hams/. Videos, images and audios are not sub-directories, they are all saved in the same folder and classified into the system's "Download" media collection.

  1. Hams Download Center → "Completed"
  2. Open files directly from tasks
  3. If necessary, use the device file management application to open "Download/Download"
  4. Enter Hams Folder (or your customized folder name)

The folder name can be modified in the "Save Location" of the app settings. The interface is displayed as Downloads/Hams Such form. Name cannot be empty or contain \ / : * ? " < > |. Modifications only affect subsequent downloads, already saved files will not be moved.

Hams does not write files to the system album. The files only enter the "Downloads" collection, and Android 10 and above will not trigger media scanning, so these files are usually not visible in the photo album or gallery application - please go to the "Downloads/ Hams” Check here.

The task shows completed but the file is missing

file moved

It may have been moved through another file management application, renamed, moved to another directory, or moved to a Private Vault.

Next step:Check recent file operations and view the Private Vault.

File deleted

It may be caused by user active deletion, system storage cleaning, third-party cleaning applications, other file management applications, clearing Hams application data, or cleaning of App private files when uninstalling.

Next step:When a file has been deleted, the task record itself usually cannot regenerate the actual file and needs to be downloaded again.

Records and files lose association

The task is still displayed, but clicking Open prompts that the file does not exist; Hams cannot continue to locate the file after it is moved.

Next step:If the file still exists, you can find it through the device file management function; if it cannot be found, you need to download it again.

The final save is not actually completed

The task appears completed but the file size is abnormal, zero bytes, click to open fails, or the path is unavailable.

Next step:Delete this abnormal record and download again. Hams does not resume downloading from a breakpoint. The re-download will start from 0 bytes and will not continue the previous progress.

Files are in a Private Vault

After moving in, the file may no longer open from the normal download location.

Next step:Enter the Private Vault to view (Privacy Deposit Box Guide).

Hams will not check the remaining storage space before downloading, and will not remind you in advance when there is insufficient space. It will only fail the task and display the message when writing fails. ioFailure Such an English error code. Please provide the original error code when contacting support.

File found but unable to play or view

The download is not actually completed yet

The task may still be "Downloading", or it may have entered the "Failure" tab.

Go back to the Download Center and see which tab it appears in.

Wrong resource downloaded

For example, video covers, small thumbnails, page decoration materials, short previews, or files that are irrelevant to the target content.

returnDownload panel, recheck the media type and preview.

The device or player does not support the format

Media format support may vary between Android devices and players.

Confirm that the file is complete → Try to open it using a trusted application currently available on the device → Return to the web pageChoose another available version. Do not install players or plug-ins from unknown sources.

Incomplete or corrupt file

The file size is obviously abnormal, playback ends immediately, cannot be read, the image or sound is abnormal, and the task has been interrupted.

Keep necessary screenshots before deleting the abnormal files, then return to the web page to reload the resources and create a new task. Re-downloading will start from the beginning and will not continue writing on the original file.

Treat unpublished documents as final

In Android 10 and above, Hams first registers a file to be written to the system, and then marks it as available after writing.

Therefore, under normal circumstances, there will be no semi-finished products that can be opened in the file manager; if you do see a file of the same name with an abnormal size, you should refer to the task status in the Download Center.

Deleting records is not the same thing as deleting files

This is one of the most important interaction boundaries in file management. In the "Complete" tab of the Download Center, these two things are two different entrances, and the wording of the confirmation pop-up window is also different.

Clear download history

Select "Clear Download Records" in the overflow menu of the "Complete" tab to remove only the task records. Downloaded files will not be deleted and can still be found in the "Downloads/Hams" folder later. The confirmation pop-up window will state "Downloaded files will not be deleted." Files that have been moved to the safe are not included in the cleanup scope.

delete

Selecting "Delete" for a single task or "Delete All" in the menu will permanently delete the local files and remove the system media library records and task records at the same time. The confirmation pop-up window says "This operation will be permanently deleted." There is a progress prompt during the deletion process. After completion, the file cannot be recovered through the task record.

Batch operation scope

In the "Downloading" tab, you can pause all, continue all, and cancel all; long press on the "Completed" tab to enter multi-select, select all and delete ("Delete all" will be hidden in the multi-select state to prevent accidental touch); the "Failed" tab only has "Retry all" and "Delete all" in the overflow menu, and does not provide multi-select batch operations. The confirmation pop-up window for canceling all downloads will prompt "Cancellation will not be possible to resume."

The "Storage Management" in the app settings is not a complete file management center. It only provides two things: statistics on the number and total volume of completed tasks, and video thumbnail cache cleaning. It does not list, move or delete specific files.

Things to note before and after deletion

  • The pop-up window for single item deletion will list the deleted file names.
  • The pop-up window for batch deletion will display the number of items
  • Deletion is carried out in two steps: first remove the system media library records, and then delete the local files
  • Do not click repeatedly during the deletion process and wait for the progress prompt to end.
  • "Clear download history" will not free up storage space
  • Files that have been moved to the safe will not be cleared by "Clear Download History"
  • Please manage the files in the safe in the safe

The real rules of renaming

  • Only completed tasks can be renamed
  • What is changed is the actual file name, not just the display name in the list
  • The extension is locked, prompting "The file extension cannot be modified"
  • File name cannot be empty
  • cannot contain \ / : * ? " < > | #
  • Files that have been moved to the safe cannot be renamed from here
  • The completed list only has type filtering and no sorting function

Hams does not have a recycling bin. Once deleted, the file cannot be restored within the app and must be re-downloaded.

Local files that require additional protection can be moved to a Private Vault

It is suitable for situations where you do not want to see it directly during normal browsing, want to manage it separately from general download content, or need to use the safe capability provided by the current membership plan. There are two paths for moving and restoring: the file card's「⋮」menu, or to fileClick three times in a rowshortcut gestures.

  1. Confirm that the file has been completely downloaded
  2. Unlock the safe first (click three times in a row on the safe card on the homepage to enter)
  3. Return to the "Complete" list in the Download Center, select "Move to Safe" in the "⋮" menu of the target file, or click on the file three times in a row
  4. Switch to the "Safe" filter and confirm that the files have been moved in
  5. When you need to get it back, restore it through the "⋮" menu of the file in the "Safe" filter, or triple-click again

After moving in, the copy in the public "Downloads" directory will be deleted, the file will no longer appear in the normal completed list, and the thumbnail will be replaced by a safe placeholder. The "safe" filter chip is only displayed when the safe level has been unlocked and there is content inside.

Important boundaries: Private Vault is not a cloud backup, cannot replace the device password, and cannot guarantee that the data will be recoverable if the device is lost;Account deletionVault files are not necessarily automatically deleted from the device; uninstalling or clearing app data may affect local content. Specific capabilities and membership requirements are subject to the current instructions on the app.

These actions may make files harder to find

Move files while download is in progress

It is possible to cause the current task to lose its target path.

Modify simultaneously using multiple file management apps

It is easy to cause inconsistencies in names, locations and records.

Clear App Data as a First Troubleshooting Step

May remove task records, settings, or local associated information.

Confirm the file status after deleting the task

Task information required for troubleshooting may be lost.

When you see a file with the same name, overwrite it directly

The same name does not mean that the content is exactly the same.

Treat task records as file backup

Actual files that are deleted or damaged cannot be recovered by task logging alone.

Rely on Hams as the only long-term backup

Hams is a download and local file management tool, not a permanent cloud storage service.

Still can't find or open the file
